TRUST IN THE LORD Happiness results from trusting the LORD because: 1. The LORD will protect you (Prov. 29:25). 2. The LORD will prosper you (Prov. 28:25). 3. The LORD will surround you with His lovingkindness (Psa. 32:10). 4. Trusting the LORD removes fear in times of danger (Psa. 56:3–4). 5. Trusting the LORD makes you steadfast under fire (Psa. 112:7; cf. 125:1). 6. Those who trust in the LORD will survive the destruction of their nation (Jer. 39:18). 7. The LORD helps in battle those who trust Him (1 Chron. 5:20). Trust in • the LORD, • His holy name (Psa. 33:21), • His word (Psa. 119:42), • His lovingkindness (Psa. 13:5; 52:8), • and His deliverance (Psa. 78:22). Don't trust in • yourself (Prov. 3:5; 28:26), • your beauty (Ezek. 16:15), • money (Psa. 49:6; 52:7; Prov. 11:28), • friends (Psa. 41:9), • people (Jer. 9:4), • politicians (Psa. 146:3), • the military (Hos. 10:13), • idols (Psa. 115:8), • or the Temple (Jer. 7:14). Some points to ponder: 1. Trust takes place in your heart (Psa. 28:7). 2. Trust in the LORD with all your heart (Prov. 3:5). 3. Trust in the LORD at all times (Psa. 62:8). 4. Trust in the LORD forever (Psa. 52:8; Isa. 26:4). 5. People of all ages should trust the LORD (Psa. 71:5). 6. Tell the LORD you trust Him (Psa. 86:2). 7. Tell others you trust in the LORD (Psa. 91:2).
